To print, or not to print

Whilst we're about to go into the production of Issue 03, the next digital issue due out at the end of July, we're also considering whether to produce a printed edition.  We know that there are people who like a tangible magazine to flip through rather than sitting in front of a digital screen, however we have not been able to quantify this.  Before investing in the increased costs of producing a printed edition we're hoping to get more feedback from our readers, probably through an article in the next issue.

If you have a view, please do share it with us!

Alas, no 2011 Calendar

Unfortunately we have decided that we will not be producing our calendar for 2011.  Due to upfront costs and the fact that we don't charge for the ezine, together with the totally speculative nature of that production, we have decided not to produce the calendar at this stage.

We are sorry about this, as we have had great support and interest from a wide selection of publishers.  We will review the situation for 2012.

To all of those who have been so helpful, thank you!

HASBRO buying BGG

We are very happy to have spoken to Martin Laing, Marketing Director of HASBRO WebTools Dvision, about their plans for the next 2-years, including their surprise announcement regarding plans to acquire the hobbyist gaming website, BoardGameGeek.  Whilst Martin was quick to assure us that no major changes were planned, they did intend to make the site more accessible to younger children by having more of a focus on games like Twister, Pop-Up Pirate and Guess Who.

BoardGameGeek were not available to comment.

Media Pack now out

We've just put together our Media Pack - a fancy way of saying an advertising price list, along with information that will be of interest when deciding where to spend an advertising budget.

Over 1,000 downloads

We are very excited that in less than 2 weeks we have had over 1,000 downloads for the ezine - which doesn't include people sending it to each other!  On top of that, we have had visitors from 50 countries!  This is really great as we are very focused on making thru-the-portal an international publication - even though we understand that having an English-only publication has its own challenges.
