'Those Pesky Humans' is a great family game by Minion Games.
This 2-player game, allows one of the players to take on the role of the poor Ogre who keeps having to defend his hard-won treasure from those pesky humans! Whilst the human invaders can have 3 in their parties (from a selection of a rogue, a paladin, a wizard and a priestess) the Ogre is able to call on the aid of his friends and fiends - various minions, including hell hounds, trolls and lurkers.
The playing area is made up of a selection of hexagonal rooms, which link via corridors. These hexagonal rooms are double sided, providing a variety in game layout. In addition, the Ogre is able to add doors, traps and his 3 gems in the dungeon.
The humans aim to capture the 3 gems and get out alive, and if they do they win. The Ogre simply tries to squish the ruthless intruders!

In addition to the cardboard figures, doors, board hexagons and treasure tokens, the game also has character cards and event cards. The character cards provide information on the health and special abilities of the player characters and the Ogre, whilst the event cards provide special abilities and actions to use during the game.
Whilst we have found the game slightly biased in favour of the Ogre, it is not too much so that the game can't be very enjoyable. With younger children, two adults can play with the child (or children) providing input into movement decisions, dice rolling and generally 'helping'.
We also think that this provides a good feel for those interested in making the move from board game to role playing game.
The game is produced by Minion Games and takes about an hour to play.
